British Treasures - Itinerary day 1: Newcastle
British Treasures - Itinerary day 2: Invergordon
Tucked away in the Scottish Highlands, Invergordon is surrounded by picture-perfect scenery. You can look forward to rolling countryside, slate-grey mountains and sand-coloured buildings. Complete with a golf course, a museum, and several ancient castles, this port provides a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
British Treasures - Itinerary day 3: Lerwick
It may be Britain’s most northerly town, set on an island off Scotland's north coast, but you’d never know it – Lerwick has just as much to offer as its mainland cousins. The bustling capital of Shetland has a great line-up of shops, top restaurants and rustic pubs. Iron Age attractions team up with modern architecture to create a cosmopolitan vibe, so you’ll find a different view around every corner.
- Walk out to Clickimin Broch – an ancient grey-stone building, and one of the best preserved brochs in Scotland. Built in the Bronze Age, the area was completely excavated in the 1950s, so you can see the original structure today.
- Step back in time at Fort Charlotte. Built in the 1700s, this five-sided defence system has been restored to its original glory, and comes with stunning views over Bressay Sound.
British Treasures - Itinerary day 4 Ship at Sea
British Treasures - Itinerary day 5: Dundee
Perched on the east coast of Scotland, Dundee’s natural harbour is over 800 years old. The city itself is all about old-meets-new, with Victorian architecture rubbing shoulders with contemporary museums. In fact, its style’s so impressive, it’s been dubbed a City of Design by UNESCO. The best place to see all of this is around Dundee’s waterfront – it’s got everything from futuristic-looking art galleries to a 200-year-old warship. And, if Scotland’s iconic castles have caught your eye, Dundee’s on the doorstep of County Angus, which is stocked with historic forts, including the 500-year-old Invermark Castle.

British Treasures - Itinerary day 7: Newcastle
Overlooking the River Tyne, Newcastle is an urban hub with a party-loving vibe. It’s famed for its nightlife, but there’s a lot more to the city than just thumping baselines. For starters, there’s the elegant Quayside – the modern bridges that stretch across the river are seriously impressive. Then there’s the great shopping scene. Factor in a string of art galleries, and you’ve got a city that’s got its finger firmly on the pulse.
- Take a tour of St. James’ Park, home of Newcastle United Football Club. You’ll get to explore the changing rooms, see the dugouts and take a look at the media suite, as well as climbing to the stadium’s highest point for the best view.
- Wander the halls in the Biscuit Factory Art Gallery – one of the largest commercial galleries in Britain. It’s packed with paintings, sculptures, prints and jewellery. The cake shop on the first floor is really popular, too.
