Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 3: Oslo
Oslo – Norway’s capital, where mesmerising natural beauty meets modern architecture and engineering. You’ll find a unique landscape of lakes, forests and pretty peninsula islands standing shoulder to shoulder with cutting-edge design and a thriving arts and cultural scene. Throw in a passion for great food and hip evening hangouts and you’ve got a truly unique city.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 4: Ship at Sea
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 5: Gdynia (for Gdansk)
You’ll see a blend of old and new as your ship docks in Gdynia, with the full-rigged sailing ship Dar Pomorza on one side, and an ultra-modern skyscraper on the other. The seaport didn’t exist until the 1920s, but has since become a gateway to the region’s capital, Gdansk. It’s just along the coast from Gdynia, but has a chequered past – from Teutonic Knights wrestling control in the 14th century, to widespread destruction during the Second World War. The result is a melting pot of new architecture, marrying French, Italian and Flemish themes with Gdansk’s Polish roots.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 6: Ship at Sea
Baltic Charms - Itinerary days 7 and 8: St Petersburg
Beautiful bridges. Shimmering canals. Ornate palaces. St Petersburg really is special. It’s one architectural delight after another. Even its metro stations resemble underground palaces. In short, it’s everything you want out of Russia - right down to those Mr Whippy-esque cathedral spires.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 9: Helsinki
Cruise into one of the world’s most beautiful harbours. With more shops, sights, bars and restaurants than you can shake a stick at, this chic metropolis will linger in the mind long after you’ve set sail for your next adventure.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 10: Stockholm
Spread out across 14 islands, spotless Stockholm is an enchanting slice of Scandinavia. Bursting with museums, galleries, bars and restaurants, there’s never a dull moment in this spellbinding city.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 11: Visby
UNESCO-protected Visby is an amazingly well-preserved Medieval town on the Swedish island of Gotland. Its cobbled streets are cocooned by chunky stone walls that envelope timeworn churches, gardens filled with rose bushes, and old-fashioned souvenir shops. Venture away from the city, meanwhile, and sweeping farmland and lakes stretch as far as the eye can see.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 12: Warnemunde
Gilded with gorgeous beaches, Medieval Warnemunde is a popular holiday spot. Spend the day lounging on the sands or climb to the top of the lighthouse to enjoy the views over the Baltic Sea. If your ship is in port for more than a few hours, you can also visit the German capital, Berlin.
Baltic Charms - Itinerary day 13: Kalundborg
This bustling market town in the west of Denmark has got an interesting past that’s well worth unravelling. Its narrow streets are made for strolling so grab a map, pack your camera and get ready to explore. If that sounds too much like hard work, you’ll be glad to hear the town’s surrounded by beaches. Or perhaps you’ll prefer a trip to Copenhagen, where shops, sights, museums and galleries conspire to steal your heart.
